Antonietta Collins
Antonietta Toni Gonzalez-Collins, the Mexican American journalist. She works as an ESPN anchor on news, and she hosts SportsNation often. Her first assignment with ESPN in the year 2016. She is the daughter of Maria Antonieta Collins, a TV reporter. Antonietta is bilingual since age nine. Her ability was crucial in helping her land her first post as a producer assistant at Univision Miami, where she worked with the producers of programs including Nuestra Belleza Latina and Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud. Her next assignment was reporter for sports at CBS St. Petersburg. CBS St. Petersburg Affiliate. In 2009, she relocated to Rio Grande Valley, Texas for work as an anchor for the newscast of KNVO TV 48 Univision. Spanish station KNVO TV 48 Univision and Fox2 News. Reporting on stories about immigration and drug-trafficking on both sides of the Texas-Mexico border, she served as a reporter on five minutes of the p.m. Spanish newscast a anchor, reporter and later anchor for news at 9 p.m. news in English, and a reporter again for news at 10:30 p.m. Spanish newscast. Antonietta's parents hail from Veracruz Mexico. Then, they moved to Mexico City and she was born there on November 22, 1985. She's younger than her sister. In 1992, the family moved to Miami following the move from Mexico into the US. They divorced shortly thereafter in 1995. Her mother was remarried to an architect from the naval profession called Fabio Fajardo who died from kidney cancer in the year 2006. While on a vacation Antonietta was staying at the home of her sister in Canton Ohio. Her older Collins sister had just landed the job of his dreams. Antonietta was the senior of her high school however, she had a clear idea of what she wanted to do in her future career. She visited Mount Union University to see if it was a good fit for her. It was a beautiful campus as well as offered the level of education she sought. When she completed the requirements for high school, she attended the University to pursue media studies. The professor she had was Mark Bergmann, who managed WRMU FM, and was member of her class, developed an ongoing friendship with the student. He encouraged her to be self-confident and his passion in journalism was a huge influence on her, and she in turn, strived to live up to his expectations and never let him down.
